Our APAC team has recently signed a contract to supply armour for a large armoured vehicle programme in the Asia Pacific region. The contract includes supply of extreme lightweight add-on armour solutions, spall liner kits and engineering services. The multi-year contract for more than 200 vehicles was achieved due to our ability to support large vehicle programmes in terms of capacity, innovative and adapted technology, as well as understanding local requirements.
TenCate Advanced Armour Asia Pacific is a Singapore-based sales and programme management office dedicated to serving the survivability needs for the Oceanic, Northeast and Southeast Asian partners. TenCate Advanced Armour recently inaugurated its new technical development center. The TenCate Technical Center will support TenCate Advanced Armour in bringing to the market a series of new or improved survivability systems across air, land, and sea.
The development of new survivability solutions is key to retaining the position as the global strategic partner in survivability solutions. As the threat picture evolves, TenCate Advanced Armour will adapt its solutions to comply with new chapters in the NATO STANAG and to accommodate differentiating requirements from end-users and partners across different theaters. The new Technical Center will also add in in TenCate Advanced Armour's dialogue with key partners, as the Technical Center will have the capability to consult and advise on survivability solutions on a platform and force protection level.
The new Technical Center will bring together the existing R&D offices of TenCate Advanced Armour into one unified organization to facillitate a more holistic approach to survivability. The new center will be able to include ballistics, mechanics, and electronics in the survability mix while relying on existing R&D capability and adding new knowledge to boost the R&D effort.
With the new TenCate Technical Center, TenCate Advanced Armour will add more emphasis on bringing new, innovative, and more adaptive survivability solutions into the current portfolio of survivability solutions to the benefit of our partners.
TenCate can provide survivability systems for remote weapon stations (RWS) against both lead-core and armor-piercing ammunition, in accordance with both international standards such as NATO STANAG 4569 level I to IV and specific customer requirements.
The survivability of the mission critical remote weapon station is paramount to the protection of the crew. Remote weapon stations provide the crew with the ability to monitor the surroundings and respond to threats arising in the immediate environment. If the remote weapon station is disabled the crew is blind and disarmed and makes for an easy target.
Weight is also a particular decisive issue with regards to remote weapon stations. The elevated position that provides the remote weapon station with the view over the surrounding environment means that the effect on the vehicle's center of gravity is impacted with a negative effect on maneuverability and mobility. Furthermore, keeping the weight down is an important factor in allowing the vehicle to be well armed.
Developing survivability systems for remote weapon stations is difficult as the remote weapon station needs survivability systems that are lightweight and reliable, which means that conventional steel systems are of little value. TenCate holds a wide experience in providing lightweight composite survivability systems with multi-hit capabilities to ensure the crew a functional and reliable remote weapon station. The low weight of TenCate Advanced Armour protection systems also ensures less load and dynamic impact on the vehicle, resulting in lower life cycle costs and greater load capacity.
Lightweight remote weapon station survivability systems are already available for light vehicles, armored personnel carriers and main battle tanks. The RAID LIGHTING system works to illuminate dark rooms and confuse threats with its stroboscopic effects. The RAID LIGHTING can retain a sharp constant light or be set in a stroboscopic mode.
The light is bright white and accuated from the battery pack or a remote. This allows the operator to seamlessly change modes while in operations.
The RAID LIGHTING also includes IR light to support night vision cameras, and a non-eye safe green laser allows the shield carrier to point out targets with the shield.
As with the RAID VIEW, the RAID LIGHTING is offered as part of the TenCate Targa-light portfolio as additional equipment for shields.
TenCate Advanced Armour works with Extrem' Vision to offer a series of camera and screen systems to replace ballistic windows in tactical shields. The RAID VIEW is developed in collaboration with special forces and offers several benefits over ballistic windows.
The RAID VIEW is significantly lighter than a ballistic window and avoids top-heavy shields as a result of this weight saving. The system also provides the operator increased visibility in dark rooms as well as a possibility to switch to thermographic view.
The complete system is mounted using Velcro thereby avoiding any impact on the ballistic capability of the shield.
