One of the drawbacks is the increasing operational load soldiers must carry and it is not unusual for Special Forces operators to carry 50 to 60kg per mission. Soldiers have never been better equipped, but also never been so overloaded and this has a direct influence on their mobility and capability to fight.

The TenCate Targa-light™ CXP-802 TL shield offers full NIJ 0108.01 Level IV protection. Compared to existing products in the market, TenCate Advanced Armour has saved up to 40% in weight for the same protection surface, making the CXP-802 TL the lightest full Level IV shield in the world. At only 13.5 kg, the TenCate Targa-light™ CXP-802 TL is a milestone for TenCate Advanced Armour in its mission to provide the lightest functional personal protection equipment and increase individual soldier survivability. The true value of ultra-lightweight shields can be expressed in terms of increased operational capability and durability.
The new ultra-light shields will be able to accommodate a wealth of auxiliary equipment, including LED lights, day/night/IR cameras and leg protection.
TenCate Advanced Armour and TenCate Protective Fabrics have been jointly attending the SOFINS (Special Operation Forces seminar), 28-30 March in Camp de Souge, France. Our team met with several foreign delegations, mainly from Europe, Middle east and Africa, presenting our solutions for Special Forces and tactical law enforcement teams.

Spall liner protection only adds a minimum of weight to the vehicle and has hardly any effect on maneuverability, payload or radius of action. Spall liners are made from rubberized aramid, high-performance polyethylene or fiberglass. The spall liner is mounted on the inside of the vehicle. It is designed to stop projectiles and small fragments and to reduce the damage inside the vehicle if hit by an overmatched threat.
Spall liners are tested and certified in accordance with the NATO STANAG 2920 standard. They are available with different kinds of surfaces for heat insulation or noise reduction, including cellular foam with both noise and vibration-dampening effects. TenCate Rosist™ is a two-component spray using flexible 100% solid thermoplastic. It is a multipurpose material that sets rapidly and cures fast, with a textured surface that is designed for a wide range of both commercial and industrial applications.
